Hello, my name is Nick Meldrum and I am the Principal of State Street Academy. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in 2010 and Master’s degree in 2015 from Saginaw Valley State University. I started working for State Street Academy in 2010. I spent two years as a 5th grade teacher, one year as a 3rd grade teacher and two years as the Behavior Intervention Specialist and the Curriculum Implementation Specialist. I left State Street Academy for a teaching position at Unionville Sebewaing Area School for two years. I am extremely excited to be back at SSA in my new role as Principal.
I enjoy many things about State Street Academy. I have a very dedicated staff who are always looking to do what is best for kids. The parents are very supportive of our staff and students. They will help out whenever it is needed and they always attend our after school events. The students of SSA are incredible. They are hardworking and motivated. They give their personal best on everything they do. I am not sure that I have just one favorite thing about the school year. There are bits and pieces that I love. I love the beginning of the year when the students return to school with the biggest smiles on their faces. I love the middle of the year when we can truly start to see the growth that our students are making as a result of our teachers dedication. I love the end of the year because I feel so comfortable that our staff and students have given everything to make a difference in their lives and our school.
When I have “free time” I enjoy spending it with my family. I have an amazing and very supportive wife and three beautiful children. We enjoy camping, fishing, and just about anything outdoors. We are avid Michigan fans! Go Blue!
